FAQ - Fort Collins ABA Therapy
Does Little Champs ABA serve families in Fort Collins?
Yes. Little Champs ABA provides in-home ABA therapy to families in Fort Collins. Our therapists travel to your home, making therapy accessible without adding a commute.
My child receives Early Intervention services in Fort Collins — what happens when they turn three?
At age three, children transition from Colorado’s Early Intervention program to preschool special education services through Poudre School District. Families should initiate this transition planning at least six months before their child’s third birthday. ABA therapy through Little Champs ABA can continue through and after this transition without interruption.
Can Little Champs ABA support a child who is nonverbal or minimally verbal?
Yes. Supporting communication development for children who are nonverbal or have very limited verbal language is one of the most common and impactful applications of ABA therapy. BCBAs work on functional communication training (FCT), which may involve building speech sounds, picture exchange communication, or augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies.
How do I talk to Poudre School District about getting ABA therapy added to my child's IEP?
You can request that the IEP team consider adding ABA therapy as a related service by submitting a written request to your child’s case manager. Bring data from any outside provider, including progress notes from Little Champs ABA, to support the request. Our school-based ABA service can also provide direct school-based support if approved through the IEP.
Fort Collins has a strong public infrastructure — how does that benefit our ABA experience?
Fort Collins’ well-rated school district, accessible parks and trails, and active library system mean the resources around ABA therapy are particularly good here. Families often find that school support, community programs, and ABA therapy work together more cohesively than in communities with fewer public resources, which can accelerate overall progress.
