FAQ - Longmont ABA Therapy
My child just aged out of Early Intervention through Boulder County — what comes next?
The transition from Early Intervention at age three leads to eligibility evaluation by St. Vrain Valley School District for preschool special education services. SVVSD should be contacted at least six months before your child’s third birthday to initiate the transition. ABA therapy through Little Champs ABA continues independently of this process and can begin before, during, or after the school transition without interruption.
Can ABA therapy be delivered in Spanish for bilingual families in Longmont?
We work with families from diverse linguistic backgrounds and can discuss language needs during the intake process. For bilingual families in Longmont’s significant Spanish-speaking community, we aim to match families with therapists who have the appropriate language capabilities where possible. Treatment planning also considers the home language environment, since skills need to generalize across the languages your child encounters.
What is the difference between a BCBA assessment and the school evaluation?
A BCBA assessment is a clinical evaluation conducted to determine your child’s current skill levels, behavioral challenges, and treatment priorities for ABA therapy. It is separate from the school evaluation conducted by SVVSD, which assesses educational eligibility. Both are important but serve different purposes, and neither needs to wait for the other to be completed.
Longmont is growing quickly — is there enough ABA therapist availability in the area?
